Thoughts on Lesson 2

I know some of you had some problems with Lesson 2, especially when doing the 1/1000the second. Part of the lesson of course was learning shutter speed, and as you can see, the faster the shutter speed, the less light there is coming in. And that's why the 1/1000th photos are so much darker. And to make it worse, most of us have sinks that do not have alot of available/natural light. With using shutter priority on the camera, it should have (and probably did) adjust all of your other settings (ISO and aperature) to give you the best possible light available.

Two reasons my photos were lighter. 1) I have nice bright sunlight coming in my kitchen window at the sink around 10am, and that's when I took the pictures. 2)the lens I used has a lower aperature. It's a 50mm with a 1.8 aperature, and I think the lenses (of those that have posted) are around 4.5 aperature, so they won't let as much light in.

If you get a warm day, or even when Spring/Summer comes, retry the lesson using an outside water spigot and a bucket, or even a garden hose splashing on something. Try it on a bright day so your camera can make the necessary adjustments and your pictures will still have good light.

I hope you all are having fun!
